Overview

Based out of Gurugram, India, Betaknot is a stealth-mode startup, pioneering in digital supply chain and omni-channel commerce fulfilment.

Along with offering end-to-end technical support to SMEs, it recently started offering a suite of planning & forecasting SaaS products under it's flagship product.

Thus, this project talks about the journey of designing some of it's core products under its Analytics OS suite, like 'Demand Forecasting Product', 'AI Copilot' among others.

About Betaknot

Founded by professionals with 10+ years of experience in Supply-Chain & Data Analytics, Betaknot offers an intelligent, comprehensive platform for empowers retailers, manufacturers, & logistics providers to effortlessly anticipate, adapt and meet customer demands.

By the virtue of its nature, Betaknot promotes its flagship 'Analytics' suite which offers solutions for all related domains - Demand forecasting, Retail Analytics, Banking Analytics, Supply Chain Control Tower etc.

Finding the 'Why' behind the problem

Enterprise companies across a variety of industries, including retail and manufacturing, rely on the advanced planning systems, concurrent planning and closed-loop planning softwares to help them forecast their demand & manage their supply accordingly.

But the conventional products by the current market players pose 3 primary issues:

1.
High-priced softwares & solutions

The current market players are too large to be affordable for SMEs with an average ticket size of $5M+ per annual license.

2.
Poor UX with not so modern interface

Complexity couldn't be an excuse for a user-friendly UX. Functionality-first approach of building products is not a scalable; It helps only till a limit

Lack of training manuals & documentation

The CEO was patient enough for me to follow a design process

Processes were a bit ambiguous in the beginning but gradually we made sure that the design thinking process was combined well with the Agile software development process:

  1. Our design sprints consisted of 2 - 3 days

  2. I along with the founding team & Devs use to dedicate sometime to sit together & brainstorm.

  3. We had 1 -2 design sprints in a week, based on the tech feasibility.

  4. The feedback loop was quick. We gradually achieved the 'No Handoff' state for our designs.

  1. To quickly streamline the product design, we decided to rather use a prominent design system already available in the market.

  2. Thus, after considering both technical & design feasibility of the components that were to be used, we finalised MUI 5.14 for this. This reduced our design time to 1/3rd.
